Horror Movie Christmas Ornaments: Gremlins, Beetlejuice and More

The best-known licensed horror Christmas ornaments are Hallmark’s Gremlins and Beetlejuice pieces: a 2026 Keepsake Gizmo peeking out of a gift, a shatterproof Gizmo, and Beetlejuice ornaments in resin or with sound. Gremlins is set at Christmas, so it fits a tree naturally. Check for a studio copyright line before you buy.

Why put horror movie ornaments on a Christmas tree?

Some horror films are Christmas films at heart. Gremlins begins with a Christmas present: Rand Peltzer buys a mogwai named Gizmo for his son Billy, and the chaos unfolds over the holiday season. That makes a Gizmo ornament as seasonal as a candy cane.

The trick is to keep the tree cute rather than scary. Gizmo, a striped suit and a few bats read as playful. Leave the fanged, snarling characters for October.

Gremlins ornaments: which ones are official?

Gremlins was released on June 8, 1984. Joe Dante directed it from a script by Chris Columbus, with Steven Spielberg among the executive producers. The AFI Catalog lists Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment as the production companies, with Warner Bros. as distributor.

Hallmark makes the easiest official pieces to find:

• Gremlins Gizmo Ornament (2026 Keepsake). Gizmo peeks out of a festively wrapped present. Hallmark lists it as a plastic, dated ornament, 3 by 2.5 by 2.25 inches, in a gift box.
• Gremlins Gizmo Shatterproof Hallmark Ornament. A stylized Gizmo in shatterproof plastic with a matte finish, 3.5 by 3 by 1.75 inches, from the lower-priced Hallmark Ornaments line.

A Hallmark Ideas article from June 16, 2026 picked the Keepsake Gizmo as one of its nostalgia ornaments. Sold-out Keepsake pieces often move to resale, where you can find Gizmo designs from earlier years.

The film’s three rules make a good decorating joke: no bright light, no water, and no food after midnight. Hang Gizmo away from the brightest bulbs if you want to honor the first one.

Beetlejuice ornaments

Beetlejuice was released on March 30, 1988. Tim Burton directed it, the Geffen Company produced it and Warner Bros. distributed it. The AFI Catalog notes that it won the Academy Award for Best Makeup. The sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, reached theaters on September 6, 2024, with Burton directing again and Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder returning.

Hallmark has two Beetlejuice pieces on its site:

• Beetlejuice You Think I’m Qualified? Ornament With Sound. A Keepsake ornament first released in 2017. Press the button to hear lines from the film. It is plastic, 3 by 5 by 2.25 inches, and runs on two LR44 button batteries.
• Beetlejuice Hallmark Ornament. A resin figure in the character’s green hair and black and white striped suit, 2.5 by 3 by 1.75 inches.

That striped suit is a gift for tree styling. Black and white stripes, a little green and some purple pick up the palette without adding any more characters.

How to check a horror ornament is licensed

Fan-made pieces are common for cult films. Before you buy, work through these steps:

1. Find the copyright line. Official pieces carry the studio’s copyright notice on the ornament, the box or the hang tag.
2. Look for a maker’s name, such as Hallmark, on the piece or packaging.
3. For Keepsake ornaments, match the year on the ornament and box to the listing.
4. Read the title. “Custom,” “handmade,” “inspired” or “3D printed” usually means an unlicensed piece, so the slots on this page leave those out.

Tim Burton-style ornaments without a license

You do not need a character on every branch to get the look. Burton’s films share a visual shorthand: black and white stripes, curling spirals, crooked shapes, pale moons and friendly skeletons. Plenty of general ornaments carry that style.

A dated Keepsake ornament makes a small, specific gift for a horror film fan. Match the film to the person, and include the box, since collectors keep it.

• The friend who quotes Gremlins every December: the 2026 Keepsake Gizmo in its present box, a direct nod to how the film begins.
• The Tim Burton fan: the resin Beetlejuice ornament, with a few black and white striped glass balls to hang beside it.
• A household with toddlers or a curious cat: the shatterproof Gizmo, which survives a fall from a low branch.
• The Secret Santa at work: any of the smaller Hallmark Ornaments line pieces, which make an easy stocking-size present for a coworker who loves 80s films.
• The collector: an older Keepsake piece with its original box, with the year checked against the listing.
